Natalie : Today on the show I'm speaking with Celestine Chua and she actually tells us her story, her inspiring story, for how she lift her corporate job is now helping millions of people around the world through her little website that gets about million views per month. So stay tuned for that story.

Hi I'm Natalie Ledwell and this is the Inspiration Show and today my special guest is Celestine Chua, how are you?

Celestine : Hi Natalie. I feel great how about you?

Natalie : Fabulous. Now it's an interesting show today on I'm actually coming on a life of Sydney, Australia and Celestine is in Singapore.

Celestine : Yes.

Natalie : Exactly. So the reason I have Celestine on the show because she has an exceptionally inspiring story and she's now living a life with passion doing what she absolutely loves. And actually making a good living at it as well from what I understand. So Celestine can you tell us like a bill story?

Celestine : Of course. Well 4 years ago I was looking for a corporate job, it was a latch mmc, and I was doing brand management and at that time well the job works great. Great arts, great people, great opportunities, but it wasn't really my passion. So I actually thought I was a little bit hello? Because my passion is really to grow and to help others grow, so frame to dozen it which is 4 years ago I decided that okay, it's time to quit my job and to really mess that out and do what I love even though the whole point has said no, like nobody in my life has agree in my decision, I did it anyway because it's just the thing that I had to do. So then I said it off my blog which was personalexcellence.co and with zero capital I just had it off like write one article after another just sharing my personal insights on pros and counter-grow and develop yourselves and my own lessons and experiences. So and the traffic just grew and built on with each article I wrote and then I was with coaching and speaking so it's really been 4 years now. And I'm so glad the traffic now is about one minute which scales a month and I basically run it as a personal income business, basically it doesn't need to be around for me to generate revenue, I am also not location bound, I don't need to be in Singapore to do my business or to do my work. I can be anywhere around the world so actually last year I was traveling on a world for about 7 to 8 months. I was in Europe and US and basically does different people and expressing different cultures, yeah.

Natalie : It is so interesting because 2008 was the year that Ryan and Glenn and I actually moved to the US and we decided that we should you know put everything on the line and actually you know put this information out to help other people as well. So what was the topic information that you have on your website? Because a million viewers per month is a lot of people to come to your website.

Celestine : Right. Well my site, unfashionable grew me and help people to grow, so my site which is called personal excellence is about anything and everything about achieving excellence in life. So I have designed platform with three resources such as articles, free web lectures, quite cause, daily inspirational course, manifestos and so on which people can read, listen, and download and per use in their own growth. And I would say that a lot of part on the site is really the hardened soften site because that way I share my own life, my experiences, my ups and downs, say my find it, or the times when I had difficulties in my relationships and so on. And I write everything prosperously on my site and my readers read them and we connect with the stories that we share. And I would say the way I transparently shared about myself or my eye sight, and just readers read the shared info from me and lessons on how people can grow is probably one of the big reasons why people returned to the site today.

Natalie : Right. And you have you know you've got followers from all over the world?

Celestine : Yes. That's right.

Natalie : So when you were traveling, and you went traveling really you've been meeting people that you know follow your blog and circles, where did you go?

Celestine : Well, my travels where once get started by indication to Amsterdam, to speak there. So last year in July dam fest go to Amsterdam and I may open agenda travel, so I ended up so well going out at my speech in Amsterdam but I knew that I did not want to return to Singapore right away. I wanted to explore and see--experience how the country's like I mean just see how things go. And literally, while I was traveling I was creating an agenda on the flight and what happened was that my readers and my personal experience just had that inviting me to where they are so from Amsterdam I went to Germany then I went to France, I went to Paris, Spain, London, and I was on London for 2 and a half months, I was in Europe for about 3 months. And when I was in London, I was that invited to speak in Watson Business School which is in US so--then I flew in the US and then from then I speak to them as I traveling the East Coast, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and I went over to the West Coast you know to where you in it, LA, and the San Francisco, and I was in the US for about 3 months and then early this year that's when I decided okay it's time for me to go back to Singapore again.

Natalie : So tell me some interesting people that you've met along the way.

Celestine: Let's see, well I've met a lot of many amazing people, many of them readers, ex-clients. I wouldn't necessarily pint point to one or two people who are really amazing but all of them are really incredible. I was really touched by the selflessness and the generosity. So a lot of people was so generous they hosted me in their place, provided me with great hospitality, and basically just prompted me around their own countries without ever asking anything back. So for example when I was in LA my host brought me to Disneyland and brought me to many different vegan cafes, I'm a vegan, so that was great and also my 7th to 8th month travels I actually meet up meet ups around the world as well, so I had meet ups in London, 2 of them was my London readers, and a meet up in New York, I have some meet up in San Francisco as well. Also it's really great just meeting my readers from different places and just connecting to them in person whereas in before they kind of read me from my site but I didn't know who they were.

Natalie : Awesome. So what advice do you have for people who are in a position with not really happy with their job and thinking that they might follow their passion but they are a little bit of afraid to do that?

Celestine : Well I would say, definitely have a clear vision of what you want. So for example when I was in my corporate job, I was really starting to work towards what I want in a sense that I was thinking about "okay what do I want in 2 years? 5 years?" And I knew that I wanted to pursue to my passion but it was not clear to how was I'm gonna do that. So then I thought you know "okay so how I'm gonna pursue that?" and then I thought okay blogging is a great way, that is a great platform to reach out many other people, and I thought coaching and speaking would be ideal mediums as well. So then when I felt like I was ready to that, I just went to pursue what I want to do, but I don't think quitting is necessarily something that everyone used to do, maybe some people are, well always at first, and then you'll be more comfortable it on the site while I'll be having that day job. And that's fine, the point is we just keep taking steps and keep moving forward, and at the point when you are ready, if you like what you're doing is enough traction then you can quit and pursue it full time. But the point is never stop thinking about it and never stop thinking about passion, that's very very important.

Natalie : Yeah wonderful.

Celestine : And the second thing is there are always in many things these years, people who disagree with you or they don't believe that you will succeed or you can do what you want because after all I guess that matron societies do believes in sticking to the 9 to 5 line and just doing all fix tight job. But the thing is, always do know what you want to yourselves and to do that and to believe in that, yeah, and not to get stuck.
