Growing up, what do you remember hearing about money from people around you?
I heard that I would have to work incredibly hard to achieve my financial goals.
I heard that people who had money were usually either greedy or selfish.
People talked about money in a positive way and I knew I could eventually have the wealth I desired.
What best describes you when you’re setting financial goals?
I set big, audacious money goals and feel confident taking risks.
I feel nervous about taking risks when it comes to my finances because I don’t want to fail.
I don’t have the time or energy to think about new financial goals.
If you’re faced with an unexpected expense or financial obstacle, how do you react?
I want to solve the issue right away. I take initiative to tackle the challenge head on.
I avoid the issue for as long as possible. I don’t like looking at my finances, especially if there’s a problem as that makes me feel stressed.
I feel frustrated and like I’ll never get ahead. Money always seems to impact my life negatively.
How do you feel when you’re making the decision to make a large purchase or investment?
I make an impulse decision but may regret it later. It’s unfair that I won’t ever be completely financially free.
I weigh the pros and cons and wait a couple of days to make the decision. If it will bring me happiness, I’ll do it.
I don’t often make big purchases because I know how hard I’ll have to work to make up for it later.
When thinking about retirement, what feeling can you most relate with?
Excited! I’m looking forward to the financial freedom I’ll soon acquire.
Unmotivated. I work hard, but sometimes I wonder if it’s enough.
Stressed. I want to make enough to retire, but I’m not sure how or if I’ll get there.
What best describes your view on giving back?
I wish I could give back more, but I’m struggling myself. I think that the rich should give back instead of me.
I give back only when I can afford it and if it won’t cause extra stress or work later.
I don’t feel like I know enough to make an educated decision to donate to a reputable cause.
How do you feel about asking for financial help from others?
I never discuss my finances with my loved ones. I don’t want to ask for a handout from others.
I will ask for help if I absolutely need it but usually feel uncomfortable and wonder if they’ll judge me.
I feel fine asking for help if I really need it. I know that I’ll eventually be able to pay the money back.
