Easy Ways To Feel Better Without Even Trying

One of my big goals this year is to really take care of myself. While this may seem self-indulgent to some and too simplistic to others, the reality is that with all the demands of life, it can be quite challenging.

But guess what? Making yourself feel better doesn't always have to be this massive task.

Sometimes, it's the little things that can instantly lift your spirits and brighten your day. My favorite thing lately is to add some small, simple actions to my daily routine that I know can quickly shift my mood and cultivate a more positive mindset.

And you know what? They've been working like a charm! So, I thought I'd share 14 of these easy and simple ways to improve your mood without even trying.

1. Make your alarm your favorite song.

It will make waking up a happier experience.

2. Change your phone wallpaper to something that makes you smile.

Put a picture of your pet, your favorite person, or a place you want to visit. (If you want to take it one step further, put a pic of something you want to manifest. That way, every time you glance at your phone, you're not only smiling but also bringing those positive vibes into reality!)

3. Play your favorite songs while doing chores.

Personally, I love listening to Coldplay while washing dishes, and you know what? It turns a mundane task into an enjoyable experience.

4. Get a plant.

If you’re a serial plant killer like me, then get an Aloe Vera or Spider plant. Both are super easy to maintain, they have healing properties, and they clean the air too!

5. Keep a bird feeder by a window, ideally by the kitchen.

This is one of my favorite things that puts a smile on my face. I personally love hummingbirds, and if you’re like me, then a honey feeder is the way to go.

6. Being polite to rude strangers.

It might sound a bit unusual but offering a kind word to someone who's been rude to you can actually block the spread of negative vibes. Plus, it's a simple way to feel better about the situation. Kill them with kindness, right?

7. Go for a walk without your phone.

This allows you to be more present in the moment, observing your surroundings and paying attention to your thoughts and feelings without the constant interruption of notifications or messages.

8. Buy second-hand.

Not just good for your wallet, but also for the planet!

9. Have dessert.

Treating yourself to dessert isn't just about indulging your sweet tooth—it's also about nourishing your soul and giving yourself a moment of pleasure and enjoyment. So go ahead, and savor that slice of cake or scoop of ice cream guilt-free, knowing that you're giving yourself a little bit of joy in your day. After all, life is too short to skip dessert!

10. Drop your shoulders.

Did you know this simple act can make you feel more at ease, and centered in your body? So take a moment to check in with your shoulders throughout the day, and if you feel any tension, gently drop them back down and feel the tension melt away.

11. Take a deep breath.

Taking a deep breath is one of the simplest and most effective ways to improve your mood and reduce stress instantly. When we're feeling overwhelmed or anxious, our breath tends to become shallow and rapid, which can exacerbate feelings of tension and anxiety. Take big deep breaths several times a day, and notice how your body and mind begin to feel more calm and centered.

12. Wear your best shoes today.

Life is too short to wait for special occasions to enjoy our best things. Every day should be a celebration, right? So every time we use our best items, whether it's clothing, shoes, or dining sets, they can elevate our everyday experiences and bring more joy and appreciation into our lives.

13. Put your keys in the same place.

I know this may seem a bit odd but I promise you that by doing this you’ll be saving yourself from lots of stress, and you’ll always start your day with the right foot knowing exactly where your keys are when you need them.

14. Dance to your favorite song or learn a silly TikTok dance.

Life doesn’t have to be too serious. Shake off any negativity by dancing it off!

As you can see, feeling better doesn’t have to be complicated. Making small, conscious changes in your everyday life can lead to BIG results!

Now, I know from personal experience that feeling good takes A LOT more than that. In those cases when stress, anxiety, or fear are robbing your happiness and peace… I also have something I’d like to share with you:
