Improving Your Life: 10 Positive Changes Only You Can Make

We all know that change is the most constant force in life.

What many of us forget though, is that the more you embrace change - the easier and more rewarding life becomes.

Big changes can bring amazing gifts into your life, but so can small changes. You simply need to be aware of what changes you want to make and take small daily steps towards them.

Of course, there are some things we can never change because they’re out of our control - but we can shift our thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors to deal with these constants.

Here are 10 of my favorite small changes you can apply now that will create lasting positive effects in your life:

1. Be kinder (to yourself and others).

When you’re kind to yourself, you create a space of love and care that’s free of judgment, understands your pain, failures, and hurt. When you’re able to feel that for yourself, you’re also able to feel compassion for others, and with it, a desire to help them experience happiness and understanding.

And this is the best gift you can give to yourself or anyone.

Be kinder to yourself and others

2. Be present while you’re eating.

Have you ever finished a bag of french fries, and then forgot you even ate them?

Or how about eating so fast you can barely taste your food?

We're often so busy in our daily lives that even sitting down to eat without distractions becomes a luxury many of us can't afford.

Make an effort to eat breakfast while you enjoy the sun (even if it’s only on the weekends), or eat your dinner without watching T.V. You'll be surprised at how much enjoyment you can get out of your food.

3. Manage your finances.

Managing finances may sound intimidating because unfortunately we’re not taught this skill at school - yet knowing how to read your bank statement, setting up a budget, saving money and paying off debt are essential skills for any abundance manifestor.

I highly suggest spending 1 hour each week planning or learning something new about your spending habits, or simply look at your bank statement and pick something you can cut.

4. Declutter your life.

When we pile up things we don’t need, we also accumulate energy that can quickly transform into stress.

Get rid of kitchen appliances you don’t need, old makeup, magazines, and donate clothes you haven’t worn in the last 6 months.

Doing this will help you make room for new things, have more peace, and renewed energy. Plus you'll feel good about having done a good deed.

5. Fix something.

Walk around your house and observe…

Is there a piece of furniture that needs a coat of fresh paint? A blown light bulb, or a button missing on your clothes?

Fixing those smalls things you often put on the back burner can give you a great sense of accomplishment.

6. Plan a road trip.

Leave your house for a couple of days, and visit a place you’ve never been.

Sometimes getting on the road and away from your routine is all you need to replenish yourself with new ideas, perspectives, and experiences. Never pass on an opportunity to have fun and enjoy life.

7. Get up 10 minutes earlier.

Use this time to meditate, listen to your favorite song, make your bed, or simply enjoy some quiet time.

Waking up even just a few minutes earlier allows you to indulge in moments you wouldn't normally enjoy and start your day with a more energized and positive state of mind.

8. Call your family or friends.

Sometimes it's distance, and sometimes it's busy schedules that make it challenging to get together with your loved ones.

But remember, even a 5-minute phone call can be enough to keep the flame of your relationship going and uplift both your spirits.

9. Go to the doctor.

Even if you’re not sick and nothing hurts, going to the doctor for a quick check-up can identify underlying diseases at early stages. And as you know - the earlier you treat these, the better.

Remember your health is your greatest wealth, so don’t compromise it.

10. Express your feelings.

Did you know that by expressing your feelings you’re not only doing wonders for your relationships and emotional well-being, but also your physical health?

Repressing your emotions can cause harmful effects on your heart, your body’s defenses, and your nervous system.

Saying “I love you”, crying when sad, or writing a letter when you’re upset, will help you get to know yourself better, strengthen your relationships, and release what you don’t need.
