Have you ever been confronted with a major decision in life and wondered…
“Is this the right path to take?”
And in that moment, who did you seek out for answers?
Was it a friend… a family member… a book… or maybe Google?
The truth is when we have a big question or life-changing decisions to make we often seek guidance outside ourselves.
And while it’s great to have a support system around us, and to use the external information at our disposal, oftentimes we often fail to seek wisdom in the most important source there is: our intuition.
Our intuition is our inner voice and it's always there to guide us in ways that no one else can.
It has an innate understanding of our truest wants and needs and can help us find the answers we are looking for.
Our intuition also allows us to tap into collective intelligence.
It's why most websites now offer intuitive designs; they're so easy for people to use that you don't even have to think too much to make the right decision.
So, why do we often overlook our greatest power?
Why do we often trust a stranger's opinion over our own intuition?
And most importantly, how can we tell the difference between feeling afraid or nervous to do something versus something that’s not truly good for us?
Here are some signs you can assess to determine if you’re being guided by fear or your intuition:
1. Fear produces from negative experiences.
Fear sources our past traumas and negative experiences and uses these events as a point of reference. On the other hand, our intuition’s source is our subconscious which pulls together a unique combination of all available information – taking painful memories as well as the highest good intentions and outcomes. This ultimately brings us back into balance with ourselves.
2. Intuition will guide you toward truth.
Every time we say no to something that we’re afraid of, we feel relieved. Yet, have you ever said no to something that you knew was good for you, so you felt restless and regretful? This is your intuition talking to you! Don’t overlook or disregard these feelings.
3. Fear will always make you feel anxious.
Intuition will make you feel at ease and grounded. It will bring you back into the present moment and will make you feel reassured that you’re safe.
4. Fear is loud.
When you're afraid, it can be easy for your mind to become overrun with critical, sometimes cruel thoughts. Your limiting beliefs may seem especially loud and powerful in moments like these - encouraging you toward conformity rather than self-protection or personal empowerment.
5. Your intuition knows what your soul craves.
Fear needs validation from the ego; from external sources. So rather than thinking you need to start listening. Set aside to spend some time with yourself. Tune in, get curious about how you’re feeling and why you’re feeling that way… and then listen.
Fear tries to keep us safe, which can be helpful, but learning to trust your intuition will help you tap into your highest self and make decisions based on the deeper wisdom within you.
Over time, I believe they both can teach us valuable lessons if we learn how to differentiate them and allow them into our life.
