Top 6 Secrets to Happiness In The Workplace

As I sat at my desk, pondering what thoughts to share on my blog this week, I reflected on my career and how proud I was for finding work that truly makes me happy. As the saying goes, “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” But yes, this is way easier said than done! Since such a large percentage of our time is spent at work, I believe it’s extremely important to find joy in what we do. If you wake up every morning, feeling lethargic, unproductive, and dread going to work, it’s time to make a change!

I can promise you this: the happier you are, the more successful you’ll be - making it much easier to attract abundance into your life.

Even if you’re not in your dream job, the benefits of a positive mindset can help make work not only bearable, but also enjoyable. So I’ve put together some ways to help you become more positive and thrive, no matter what your situation is.

Here are my Top 6 Secrets to Happiness in the Workplace

1) Find Meaning In Your Work

It’s great if you have a job you love that does some good in the world, but that’s not always the case. Whether you’re in a temporary situation or this is your career, find some meaning in your day. Maybe it’s the friendships you have at work, or that you’re employed and providing for yourself and/or your family - whatever it is, find something that matters.

2) Have Compassion

Spending the majority of your time with groups of people at work can bring about various dynamics, but it doesn’t have to negatively impact your work life. If there’s someone who really gets under your skin, take a different approach - have compassion for them. Be aware that you don’t always know what’s going on in someone’s life, and maybe there’s a reason they are challenging to you. The upside is when you have compassion for someone, it changes your perspective and opens your mind.

3) Maintain Integrity

Always follow your inner guidance system, that’s my rule of thumb. If you practice integrity, keep your side of the street clean, then you can feel good about yourself. This raises your vibration and puts you in a state of happiness without comparing yourself to others and their intentions :-).

4) Stay Balanced

This is definitely a key to happiness. Staying balanced is vital to your peace of mind, your health and your relationships. It means placing a higher value on yourself than pleasing others. It means not always working through lunch, it means not always taking on more work than you’re meant to, and making sure you have boundaries between your personal life and work life.

5) Keep Your Composure

This is easier said than done. Some days it just feels good, at the moment, to let off some steam if something’s bothering you. But it makes for an uncomfortable work environment and honestly, it’s just not a good look. Once you’ve acted out like that, it will be hard to erase that stigma. It’s so much better to be calm and reasonable, even if you’re seething inside. Deep breaths are your friend in situations like this.

6) Stay Focused

It’s tempting to want to juggle, but research has indicated that more mistakes are made when multi-tasking. So, slow down and focus on the task at hand. You’ll get more accomplished, and feel better about yourself and your work in the long run.

Those are my secrets tips for a happy and successful work life. Do you have any you can share in the comments section? My team and I would love to hear them.
