It may seem insignificant, but did you know the tiny actions you take each day can be the difference between financial freedom and constant struggle?
It’s true! These micro habits are the secret to building and maintaining financial abundance in your life!
True wealth starts with your mindset—your thoughts and behaviors towards money. And cultivating an abundant mindset boils down to small, positive, and progressive habits that eventually become second nature.
Today, I'm going to show you how to create these powerful habits. But first, let’s dive into…
The Power of Micro Habits
The truth is, these habits and behaviors don’t require much time or effort to achieve, so don’t feel overwhelmed! In fact, these small actions—what I like to call 'micro habits'—only require a shift of awareness around our thoughts and behaviors. The best part is that, in a short amount of time, they can lead to dramatic transformations in your finances.
Thought-Provoking Money Ideas
It’s important to check in with your thoughts constantly because each day your mind is consuming new information and forming new thoughts and beliefs about wealth and your ability to have more of it. Some of these thoughts might be:
-
"What type of person am I when it comes to money?"
-
"How do I deal with the money that flows in and out of my life?"
Whenever you have these thoughts, consciously or subconsciously, you’re either taking a step forward towards becoming wealthy or taking a step back.
Ensuring Positive Financial Behaviors
So, how do you ensure that you’re thinking, behaving, and feeling in ways that will help you attract more money?
Since the brain is constantly taking notes on the little actions you’re taking throughout the day, all you need to do is make small adjustments to these actions. This is extremely easy once you have awareness, which by the end of this post, I’m confident you will have!
Becoming Aware of Money Encounters
The first step to successfully adjusting your behaviors is to become aware of where and when you encounter money throughout the day. Note what you currently think and feel during these moments. For example, consider how you react and feel when you receive change back from purchases made in a day.
Do you just shove the change in your pocket and forget about it? Or do you leave it in the car for the parking meter?
These small encounters with money have a huge impact on your mindset, even though it may not seem obvious right away.
If you mostly use credit or debit cards, think about how you feel every time you pay for something that way—and how you could change your daily habits with this energetic exchange to a more abundant reaction.
Practical Money Habits
One practical habit is setting up an auto ‘round up’ feature in your bank account, where your bank automatically rounds up your purchases and puts the change into your savings account.
I personally do this because it shows the universe that I’m confident in my ability to save and manage my wealth, even in small amounts each day.
These small shifts in your daily handling of money don’t take much time or effort, but they significantly impact your mindset and the level of wealth you can attract and hold onto.
Creating Positive Triggers
By becoming aware of these small moments where you deal with money, you set triggers for yourself to realize and react differently the next time you spend or receive money.
If you shove your change in your pocket and forget about it, you’re reaffirming the belief that you don't really care about money. On the other hand, if you take that extra change and put it somewhere specific for future use, you tell the universe that you are worthy of having and managing money.
Whether you’re aware or not, your brain is creating new thoughts and beliefs each time you deal with the exchange of money in your life, no matter how small that exchange may be.
I encourage you to take notice of how you’re dealing with the flow of money in your life on a micro level. Create some awareness around it.
For example, if you currently don’t take note of the change you receive, make a physical or mental note to put it in a specific place for future use. Or try the bank ‘round up’ idea!
Whenever you encounter money, you give yourself the opportunity to create positive and abundant energy in that moment by simply becoming aware of it. By practicing these micro habits, you'll be well on your way to cultivating an abundant mindset and attracting greater wealth into your life.
