4 Benefits of Brainwave Entrainment

When you hear the words Alpha, Beta, Delta, Theta, what comes to mind? Do you think of the Greek alphabet? Or, maybe if you live in America you think of college with the different fraternities or sororities on campus? For me, as soon as I hear these words, I immediately think of brainwave entrainment.

Maybe you've heard of brainwave entrainment before and are aware of the countless benefits it has to offer, but let's take a quick look at what it is, and how we can use it to improve our lives.

In short, brainwave entrainment is a powerful method of using sounds to alter your brain state. You see, our brains operate at different wavelengths and higher frequencies are in tune with higher levels of alertness, and vice-versa.

Delta >>><<< Theta >>><<< Alpha >>><<< Beta

Deep Sleep ------------ Alertness ------------ Awake

Lower --------------- Frequency --------------- Higher

Science has been able to link the 4 brainwave states to improving memory, learning, energy levels and more. Since we can't sense our own brainwaves, it's extremely difficult to control them. This is where brainwave entrainment comes into play.

Our brains follow cues from outside stimuli, and brainwaves mimic the pulse rates of the sounds we expose it to. So, by creating tracks that pulse sound waves at a desired frequency, we can effectively coax our brain into that state. In layman's terms; by listening to some strange sounding brainwave frequency audios, we can literally slip our brain into a state of feeling calm, alert, focused, energized... and the list goes on. Pretty cool, right?!

Brainwave entrainment has a number of beneficial uses but here are just a few:

Increased creativity (Beta)

When waking up from a deep sleep or when trying to break through that early afternoon lull, beta waves can help bring you into a state of alertness and also helps increase creativity.

Stress relief (Alpha)

At the end of a stressful day, when your mind is racing, you can use alpha waves to help calm your mind and create a state of relaxation.

Enhanced learning (Theta)

When trying to learn, Theta is the ideal brain wave frequency, but it is quite difficult to learn in your sleep. By using brain entrainment, you can tune your brain into a Theta state while staying conscious, to massively improve learning and memory.

Rejuvenating Rest (Delta)

Delta waves are the lowest frequency state that our brains use. Using delta waves can be very useful to help you fall asleep or to increase the quality of sleep; allowing you to maintain your sleeping state and to wake up feeling more rested in the morning.

Amazingly, with the right tools and enough use, brainwave entrainment can improve learning, memory, creativity, motivation, relaxation, sleep, focus, energy levels and problem solving.
