As the United States just celebrated Independence Day, it's the perfect time to ask:
What does it take for a human being to be truly free?
True freedom transcends politics. It's not just about being free of external pressure - but also about being free on the inside.
In my many years as a personal growth teacher, I've helped people from all walks of life create lives of greater freedom and autonomy.
What I've discovered is that there are five particular types of freedom that reliably awaken greater joy, love, success, and abundance.
So, how many of these do you have?
1. Freedom Of Thought
Our subconscious minds have a habit of absorbing the limiting beliefs and disempowering models of reality around us - and we often have no say in the matter!
So what would your life look like if you had complete freedom to think, believe, and perceive in ways that uplift you, instead of drag you down? No more saying no to opportunities, no more holding yourself back in your career, and no more selling yourself short.
The challenge here is that even when you can sense a block in your own mind, you can't just get rid of it through willpower alone.
That's where practices like meditation, visualization, and affirmations come in. These tools allow you to rewire your subconscious mind in any way you choose, freeing you from the shackles of negative thought patterns that rob you of your fullest potential.
2. Energetic Freedom
Energy is an interesting subject. Some of us believe in the Chakras: the seven energetic wheels inside us that control various aspects of our lives. While others may think of energy as simply being positive or negative.
Whatever your take is, I'm sure we can all agree that avoiding people or situations harboring negative energy can only be a good thing.
The important thing to remember is that energy influences energy. That's why spending even just a few moments with a negative person can really bring you down.
Of course, energetic influences are not always avoidable. You still need to show up and interact with the world.
So just like how you shower your physical body to keep it clean, you also want to 'shower' your energetic body to keep it free of negative blocks and charges. Practices like energy healing and chakra healing are great ways of doing this.
3. Freedom Of Lifestyle
Everyone should be free to live life on their own terms. Most of us forget this - which is why we end up settling for jobs we hate, people who don't bring out the best in us, and sacrifices we grudge making.
The goal is to create a life where you wake up every morning thrilled to start your day. Where you're surrounded by the people, objects, and experiences you adore. And where the Universe itself seems to bend reality in your favor.
We each have our own vision of what our best life should look like, but there's one shared ingredient that will help all of us get there: and that's financial abundance.
Whether you want a lavish lifestyle, or you just want to stop having to worry about money, creating financial abundance is an essential step to your dream lifestyle.
As a personal wealth coach, some of the most incredible wealth breakthroughs I've seen come from people who work on their wealth mindset.
Because often, it's not that you're not working hard enough, or that you're not smart or lucky enough - it's simply a matter of your subconscious mind refusing to receive the wealth and abundant opportunities all around you. The good news is, you can fix that with the right inner work.
4. Freedom To Love
Love is the most coveted force in the Universe: there's a limitless supply to go around, and we can never get enough of it.
Yet often, it's our own fears and hang-ups that cause us to subconsciously reject love. Sometimes, you may feel unworthy of love. Sometimes, you may push away love because you're scared or uncertain. Sometimes you may even struggle to love yourself.
Freedom to love means you're giving and receiving all the love you want. It means you're following where your heart is guiding you, instead of letting worries or doubt cheat you of love.
This applies to all forms of relationships: whether it's with romantic partners, family, or friends. Imagine how much simpler and more joyful life would be if you could love and be loved without limits.
Achieving true freedom to love involves working on your energy, emotions, and your subconscious beliefs. Once you begin this process, you'll be surprised to discover all the surprising ways we humans hold ourselves back from what we want most!
5. Freedom To Give Back
If you're familiar with Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs, you'll know that at the top of the pyramid is self-actualization: the desire to achieve one's fullest potential.
Remember, your fullest potential extends beyond creating an amazing life for yourself: It's also about helping and inspiring others on their journeys too.
Conversations With God author Neale Donald Walsch even goes as far as to say, "your life is not about you, it's about the lives of every person you meet."
By focusing on the above five freedoms, you'll also achieve the freedom to give back, in the most impactful way possible. We're all in this together after all.
