Are you ready to start your own business venture and be successful?
Well I’m not gonna lie, starting your own business can be very challenging, and sometimes a certain level of success requires sacrifice.
Yet that sacrifice can be extremely rewarding.
When my business partner Glen and I started Mind Movies, we were $200k in debt.
Neither of us had a business degree, and never had a course in finance or economics.
In fact, we didn’t take a single course that was associated with business at all!
And even though we never fully prepared ourselves to build a company from the ground up, something inside of us drove us to become entrepreneurs at a very young age.
I had made the decision that I wanted to personally take control of my own life, create a better life for myself and the people around me, and live out the life of my dreams.
And I did!
This is why I want to share with you 7 core principles for successful entrepreneurship that are real-life traits you can apply in business and in every area of your life.
1. Be clear on who you are and where you’re going
Do you know who you are and what you want?
Everyone has skills and innate abilities they can leverage in their business - do you know your strengths and limitations?
Make sure you have a clear vision and an inspiring mission to motivate yourself and others to do the hard work necessary to achieve business success.
2. Do something you’re good at
To be successful and happy, you must be doing something you enjoy and excel at.
Find something you’re passionate about and where you have the potential to compete with others in that specific niche.
Look for a product or service that’s profitable and can help you achieve financial freedom.
3. Develop a resilient core
As in many areas of life, in business you’ll get knocked down too - so make sure you pick yourself up, keep trying, and keep pushing until you become better at it.
The more you learn what works for you and what doesn’t, and the more you keep trying new things, the greater your chances are of achieving success.
If you have the courage to begin and the resilience to endure, and you choose not to give up on the process, then nothing can stop you from achieving your dreams.
4. Build a strong network
The connections we build over time could be the difference between working hard or working smart.
As in life and in business --your network of contacts is everything. Your network is the foundation of your social selling efforts, so get strategic about whom you connect with and why.
Remember a single hand-shake could be the beginning of a long-lasting business relationship.
5. Stay committed to your vision
Foster daily success habits that will help you stay motivated and focused on your goals.
Make a list of everything you need to complete each day and prioritize.
Discipline yourself to work until your tasks are completed and you’ll be much more productive.
6. Use your creativity
Focus your energy on solving problems and removing obstacles.
When you use your imagination to look for solutions, you unleash an untapped source of potential you didn’t know existed before.
Create products and services that have real value, deliver results consistently, and continuously improve your processes and offerings.
7. Be willing to take risks
Jack Canfield once said: “Everything you want is on the other side of fear”.
Taking risks can be scary, but if you’re going to be successful as an entrepreneur, you have to be prepared for the risks and challenges that come with it.
Remember you’re in the business of taking calculated risks as you try to predict the future based on the evidence you can find.
So next time you feel fear, doubt, lack of time or any other kind of resistance, stay true to your purpose.
Now, speaking of resistance…
